Residence “Le Square”: Origins of the Construction
Le Square is a residential building in the Fleurs district, near Boulevard Gambetta, located at 19 Rue Andrioli in Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes department.
This building was constructed and completed in 1972 by the renowned Italian developer and contractor Rometti. He took part in numerous residential projects throughout Nice, especially along Boulevard François Grosso and across the entire Fleurs district (rue Frédéric Passy, rue François Aune, avenue des Fleurs, avenue des Orangers, rue Bottéro, rue des Potiers, rue Alexis Mossa), as well as in the Madeleine area. The residences signed “Rometti” are visually quite recognizable, notably due to the generous use of marble in entrance halls and stairwells.
A Distinctive Feature of the Residence
Le Square was built in a way that differs from most buildings in Nice. In fact, the ground floor, part of the first floor, and the second floor were dedicated to private parking spaces for the residence. This is particularly visible on rue Bottero, where the façades are partially blind, yet embellished with false window outlines and railings that extend from the adjacent balconies.
